Job Description:

 

Must be able to take structural steel from shop floor by using a crane to place item on a workbench. Ferquent bending over is required to gather smaller items to atttache to the main member.

 

Must be able to fit in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions were frequent bending and reaching is required in these positions.

 

Must be able to work on various machinery as required.

 

Must have no unsual medical restrictions that would prevent employee from performing the job of steel fitter.

 

Walking and standing for up to 10 hours with 50 minutes break time. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling and pushing.

 

Occasional transporting and lifting of objects not exceeding 50 pounds.  Any object exceeding 50 pounds a crane will be used.

 

Objects that are less than 50 pounds which are awkward a crane  can be used.

 

Must have adequate vision and hearing.

 

Must have previous training and or certification in Overhead Travelling Crane operation in excess of 10 Ton.

 

Must have previous training and or certification in rigging tehniques.

 

Must have WMIS and forklift certification

 

All certifications above will be current without exception

 

Must be able to show fitting experience in Bridge Fabrication in accordance with codes and standards AWS D1.5 and/or CSA S16

 

EDUCATION:   Must have current vocational or technical training

 

EXPERIENCE:   8 - 10 years of experience in all fabrication processses mentioned above

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

 

Interpretation of fabrication processes and procedures

 

Must be able to interpret blueprints adnd welding symbols

 

Must have experience in operating overhead hoisting equipment
