Skill Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not required

Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Specific Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Prepare specifications of article to be made, Trim joints and fit parts together, Sand wooden surfaces, Apply varnish, veneer, stain or polish to finished products, Prepare shop drawings, Prepare layouts for wood articles, Prepare layouts for metal components, Build prototypes, Set up and operate saws and other woodworking machines to cut, shape and form parts, Utilize metalworking hand tools, Operate power actuated tools, Operate metalworking machines, Machine components for cabinets, furniture and other items, Prepare and apply laminated plastics, Prepare and apply metal laminates, Prepare and apply solid surfaces, Design and make templates, jigs and fixtures for production of furniture and other products, Select and cut vinyl to form parts of wood products, Assemble millwork products such as stairs

Additional Skills: Operate CADD and other computer software systems, Prepare quality control functions, Maintain clean and safe work environment, Supervise other workers
