Skill Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school, Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): 1st Period Apprentice, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, 4th Period Apprentice

Experience: Will train

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

Major Work Area: Maintenance/repair, New fabrication

Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Manufacturing

Area of Specialization: Custom fabrication, Truck repair, Machinery or equipment repair, Pressure vessels

Welding Techniques: Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) (MIG)

Type of Machine Experience: Gas welding machines

Weight Handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)

Specific Skills: Interpret welding process specifications, Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines, Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal, Operate drill presses, Determine weldability of materials, Spray welds, Perform post welding heat treatment, Operate hoisting and lifting equipment, Prepare jigs or set-ups for welding, Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production line, Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment

Additional Skills: Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications, Polish sheet metal

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Welding helmet

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periods

Transportation/Travel Information: Public transportation is not available

  1. The themes here are amazing. I would like to see an easier way to search with more relevant results. i.e. when I search autumn, I really don't want to find Assassins Creed or Warrior girl...just a pretty autumn seasonal theme for my background.
