Skill Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not required

Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

Major Work Area: New fabrication

Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Manufacturing

Area of Specialization: Factory assembly

Welding Techniques: Resistance, spot or seam, Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) (MIG), Plasma arc welding (PAW), Automated, Stud

Welding Positions: Flat, Horizontal, Vertical

Materials: Stainless steel, Steel, iron and heavy metals

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Additional Skills: Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes, Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications, Polish sheet metal

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Welding helmet

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periods

Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Oral communication, Working with others, Job task planning and organizing

Other Information:Part of a production cell where you rotate positions. Welding, metal finishing, spot/ stud welding, and other machine operating duties. Must be available for day and afternoon shifts.
